AKA AKA ROAR: MOSCA, ALTERED NATIVES, GANG COLOURS + SUPPORT

The time is here folks! AKA AKA ROAR touch down at LIFE later tonight with September’s apocalyptic installment of clubbing. The line up is heeuuge. The vibes will be on fire. And we can’t wait.

Headliner MOSCA has got a whole bag of very successful tunes under his belt – Done Me Wrong, Tilt Shift and the recently released and highly anticipated Bax, to name but a few – and his status as a DJ and Producer is steadily rising to the top. Based in London, Mosca’s vibe is typically that of the UK club scene – strong, edgy, sophisticated, fresh – but his appeal is broad and stretches far beyond the UK, partly thanks to support from influential names such Gilles Peterson, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B, as well as regular airplay on Rinse FM and Deja Vu FM alongside other pirates.
We’re loving the sampled, bouncy sounds of 2-Step tinged Done Me Wrong – listen below and get some beats flowing!

Joining him will be ALTERED NATIVES, as you know. If you’ve got a moment and some curiosity, we would recommend reading our exclusive interview with the man behind the music, Danny Yorke. It’s posted just below – or just click here to read it. Full of insight into his forthcoming album Tenement Yard Vol. 2 and very open, he was a lovely guy to chat with and we’re even more excited now to see him play tonight!
Check out a very new XLR8R mix from the man here – it’s f***ing bumping. And checks on this awesome track and video combo, below!

Our last headliner of the night will be GANG COLOURS. As described on his Facebook Page, his sound is “a portal into a world of daydreams, tumbling into shadows and embracing luminescence simultaneously… Gang Colours turns drum patterns into magic. Breeding surreal headphone-friendly landscapes, he fills them with unexpected sounds that would otherwise seem out of place. Within his intricate collages however, they nestle so comfortably – it’s hard to remember their usual context. At times his sound effects strike a peculiar balance between otherworldly and familiarity (reminiscent of slide whistles or insects buzzing). At other points they conjure a sense of longing. Think Mount Kimbie with a playful sense of humour, Burial on a soft, sunny dancefloor, Gold Panda with an R&B lean.”

Damn right! His In Your Gut Like A Knife EP certainly contains some blissful, brilliant tracks that really do get your innards churning with delight. We were very impressed with the title track – listen below for yourself…
