NIGHTMOVES PRESENTS: FLOATING POINTS @ LIFE //

On the 24TH APRIL, NIGHTMOVES are back at LIFE for a very special BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY EXTRAVAGANZA, presenting the brilliant FLOATING POINTS + very special guests…

SAM SHEPARD is the keyboard player and arranger of the 15 piece ensamble FLOATING POINTS. Through his musical arrangements for the group, he has created a reputation as one of the most pioneering and orginal sound makers emerging in new British music, drawing on influences as diverse as Jazz, Detroit Techno and UK Garage and Dubstep. FLOATING POINTS have undoubtedly released some of the freshest and most interesting material of the last few years, from 2009′s boogie crossover monster ‘Love Me Like This’ to his recent synth shuffling face melter ‘People’s Potential’. They are definitely a group to watch for big things in the near future.

As a DJ, SHEPARD has been making waves with his recent sets at London’s infamous Plastic People; for a taste of what to expect at LIFE, check his recent Rinse FM session where he played a 2-hour, back to back set with Four Tet – just CLICK HERE to listen.

Joining Floating Points will be local legend and founder of the passionately ecclectic Well Rounded Records, ASHLEY MARLOWE aka DONGA. He is without doubt one of the finest DJs to grace Brighton in recent times. Expect nothing short of a musical journey from Donga who has promised to dig ‘extra deep’ for our extra special Bank Holiday party. Well Rounded has has proved itself to be a consistently vibrant and interesting platform for some of the most exciting producers surfacing in the UK at the moment – keep your eyes peeled for their next showcase night at THE TUBE, coming up this Saturday 16th April.

Plus we’ll have House, Electronica, Tech and Funky sounds coming through the ether from our very special support: ALEX BLACK + CARL MUIR, ACTION JACKSON, PRETTY RICKY and GLITTER MOUSE in Room 1, and a whole lot more in Room 2 where the DJ’s will be offering you the finest in Disco, Soul, Funk, Afrobeat and Organica…

THE TUBE LAUNCH w/ A GUY CALLED GERALD //

The team at LIFE on Brighton seafront, are pleased to announce that we are expanding!

As of Saturday March 12th, The Funky Buddha will become The Tube. This exciting new venue will be an extension of LIFE, run by the same team with a focus of providing you with the same great mix of music, drinks and atmosphere you’re used to.
With an extensive history, boasting the infancy of some of Brighton’s best loved and most successful club nights and record labels such as Stompa Phunk and Supercharged, The Tube will deliver an amazing experience in intimate surroundings.

Saturdays at The Tube will deliver fresh, specialist, exciting, influential or just plain legendary DJs every week. Expect quality music, drinks and service in an ego free environment. We start as we mean to go on, launching our new Saturday programme with an Underground legend who’s influenced dance music scenes from Acid House to Jungle; the visionary A Guy Called Gerald, joining us for a very special 2hr live set! The rest of March sees Well Rounded touch down with C.R.S.T, James Fox and Donga & Blake on the 18th, before Zed Bias graces the decks on the 25th!

As with LIFE, The Tube will be a constantly evolving space that we know will grow to become one of the city’s favourites’ once more. We will be launching a small but perfectly formed drinks menu including some tempting cocktails and premium spirits, which will complement the brilliant new-look decor and expertly tweaked sound system and invite you to come and check it out for yourself!

LIFE’S TROPICAL NYE w/ROSKA, UNTOLD, WOOKIE & MORE

The year has gone so quickly. Bonfire night has already been, christmas is fast approaching and soon the new year will be upon us. Some people complain about the year passing by too quickly, but they fail to remember that it means LIFE’s NYE parties are nearly here, and this year we’ve turned it up a notch or two!

This year were going tropical, kicking out the winter blues & getting all hot and bothered to bring in the new year! Providing the soundtrack to our night we have Uk Funky’s main man Roska, Hemlock Recordings own Untold & UKG legend Wookie, plus support from Donga of Well Rounded, and AKA AKA ROAR residents Ben White & Temple.

PLUS we are opening up ‘The Lagoon’ and our good friends from the Thursday Night Fish Fry shall be providing the entertainment alongside Jail Bait & the dagger DJ’s!
