AKA AKA ROAR VS. DEADLY RHYTHM #2: BODDIKA, MELE, PARIAH //

On FRIDAY 22ND JULY, the AKA AKA ROAR! and DEADLY RHYTHM boys are back for another colossal sound clash, going head to head once more to bring you, yet again, a huge night of epic proportions. We are honored. We are spoilt. And we are very very pleased to announce our headliners:
BODDIKA, MELE
and PARIAH.

RHYTHM and ROAR are fast becoming a duo to be reckoned with. They are the Laurel to our Hardy, the R2D2 to our C3PO, the erm… Richard to our Judy?! Tuned in to an exciting, future-facing Electronic scene, the two crews strive to represent distinct, diverse and dancefloor orientated music; combined, they create a powerful team. Following the MASSIVE success of their first battle – headlined by the formidable Claude VonStroke and Pearson Sound – we cannot wait for a second installment!

BODDIKA eludes any definitive genre terms one might label him with, plowing through and smashing the Electronic scene to pieces. His productions are raw, fresh, invigorating; in a scene that is sadly becoming pretty damn polished and quantized, he stands out with a genuine trademark sound – a sound that is free of trademarks. Influenced mainly by old school Electro beats, Hip Hop and Detroit Electro producers such as Drexciya and Aux88, Boddika also takes inspiration from Chicago House and Detroit Techno, as well as 90′s & 80′s Dance and Electronica. With such a diverse range of interests, it’s no wonder he breaks through boundaries himself.

Check out “Rubba” (below), recently released on Swamp81, for a dark and Grimey bitchslap in the face. We love it…

Hailing from the not-so-glamorous Merseyside, the wildly fresh MELE – at just 18 years young – has been tipped by FACT Magazine as one of the hottest new producers emerging on the scene; definitely one to watch in 2011. As stated on his Soundcloud Page (CLICK HERE to visist): “Melé is capable of delivering on every level – from progressive club music to deeper minimal productions interspersed with deadly deep subs. It’s Melé’s rhythmic inventiveness, and virtuoso touches that really set him apart.” Get to know. Have a listen. Checks on his exclusive mix for Triple J, below; a banging tracklist that’s chock full of homegrown tracks and awesome tunes from an inspiring selection of artists:

Last but not least is London-based PARIAH – an elusive guy, with little online activity – but if his debut single “Orpheus” is anything to go by, and with a batch of hot ‘n’ steaming releases in the pipeline, we’re in for a treat. With an impressive list of bookings over the summer, including a handful of Festivals such as Belgium’s Dour and Norways Oyfestival, plus gigs across the UK, his gig at LIFE is certainly in good company. Pariah is steadily becoming in demand, and very well respected.

All of this will be topped off by RESIDENT DJ’s from both crews playing killer sets too, with an AKA & DEADLY SOUNDSYSTEM shaking down the club to its very foundations. A huge night not to be missed!

So, where to get tickets? Limited £6 Early Birds are on sale NOW, available online at TICKETWEB and FATSOMA.

DEADLY RHYTHM PRESENTS SEIJI & MARTELO //

“I’m not interested in that bollocks about claiming this or we started that, it’s always been and always will be about making new and fresh music, not dwelling in the past.”

Seiji sums himself up perfectly – a man who’s been at the center point of the UK electronic music for the past decade, his release catalogue spanning all sorts of genres, from drum and bass to broken beat and from house to hip hop.
Behind the decks he’s a master, mixing with speed and flair, keeping the dancefloor on their toes. Expect a set you won’t forget in a long time. If you haven’t checked out his FACT magazine mix, then track it down. Check out his website for a wealth of free tunes and mixes: http://www.seiji.co.uk/

Supporting Seiji will be yOyO’s very own Martelo, along with Deadly Rhythm’s debut release Leon, Jackson & Filippo from Nightmoves and the Deadly Rhythm Soundsystem.
